The Come Out and Play Festival is a street games fesitval dedicated to exploring new styles of games and play.

Come Out & Play 2008 in New York City

Come Out & Play 2008 was our best year ever. We were based out of Bluestockings bookstore and activist center from June 6-8. With the power of play, we took over the Lower East Side and beyond during the 3 hottest days of the summer and made the neighborhood come outside to come alive, connect, play and actually delight in the heatwave.

Thousands of players and onlookers participated in 24 incredible games across the city, run by some of the the most incredible and innovative game designers anywhere. The COaP team was astounded and excited by all of the awesome work these designers brought to the 2008 festival.

Bluestockings was the gracious host of the festival. They suffered with a smile through us rampaging around the store and golf balls being putted in through the front door.

We couldn't even consider doing the festival without our army of loyal and dedicated COaP volunteers. Our incredible 2008 volunteers made sure everyone had a good time: Aaron Krasnov, Alfred Omar Almodovar, Angela Pablo, Brea Taylor-Munro, Cathy Longi, Cicek Nef, David Piltz, Debra Keneally, Ginger Gray-Trefry, Hsin Fang Chang, Huali Fu, Ilya Korolev, Ivania Cordero, Jenifer Kaminsky, Ji Yeon Choi, Joe Edelman, Josh Lerner, Kevin Balktick, Leo Arroyo, Lia Bulaong, Nicole Zeiss, Patrick Jao, Pollie Barden, Renate Lunn, Sharon Applegate, Sheryl Santacruz, and Vanessa Hamer
